NDA is an exam that is conducted by UPSC for the recruitment in the Indian Armed Forces. The candidates who are eligible & willing to crack the exam can check the details from here. The syllabus of NDA exam is written here for all the candidates who are trying or appearing for it. The candidates who do not have the knowledge of syllabus can download the details from here. #### About NDA

NDA stands for National Defence Academy. It is a joint service academy for Indian Armed forces. The cadets from all the three wing of Armed forces i.e. the Army, the Navy and the Air Force before they are send to their respective academies. It was established on 7 December 1954.

National Defence Academy Syllabus 2017It is located in Khadakwasla near Pune, Maharashtra state of India. The commandant of NDA is Hon. Air Marshal Jasjit Singh Kler, VM. It campus is sprawling in 7,015 acres (28.39 km) of space. The site was chosen because of its location near lake & another military environment that is helpful in establishing a training centre for the cadets.

### NDA Exam Syllabus 2017 September

Candidates who who are willing to join NDA needs to clear the written test first. After this they will be forwarded to the SSB Interviews. The exam is conducted for April & December month every year. More than 4.5 lac applications are received for NDA but only 6300 are selected for interview.

The candidates who got the selection are invited for the training classes in the month of July and January. The most important criteria for NDA is that the applicants must be unmarried. The number of candidates who got the selection are only 320. These 320 students are divided as 70 cadets for the Air Force, 42 for the Navy and 208 for the Army.

Candidates who are selected & complete the NDA program are send to the respective academy afterwards. The 208 army cadets are send to Indian Military Academy Dehradun, 42 Navy cadets are send to Indian Naval Academy located in Ezhimala, Kerala. And the remaining 70 cadets of Air Force are send to Air Force Academy.

After the candidates has completed the NDA program he can only resign for any permanent medical condition. NDA has given so many commanding officers to the country Current chief of Indian Army, Indian Navy & Indian Air Force are NDA Alumni. This is a small introduction about NDA. As you have decided NDA for your career then you should be having knowledge of every aspect for the written test. The most important part of written test is the syllabus on which your exam is based upon. So in the next part I am going to write the syllabus for NDA written exam.

### NDA Written Exam Syllabus 2017 PDF

The exam authority of NDA exam is UPSC. UPSC is the short form of Union Public Service Commission. The main parts for this exam are General Aptitude, Psychological Testing, Team-Building Skills Along With Physical And Social Skills And Medical Tests. The exam is not as easy as anybody thought for it. Nearly 5 lac application comes for the written exam & is filtered to six thousand three hundred. These 6300 are send for the Interview & lastly 320 are finally selected.

After you have read this you may find it very scary, but if you are enough courageous then your seat is confirmed. So talking about the syllabus structure.

#### NDA Exam Pattern 2017

Here I am going to write a small structure for NDA written exam. The total marks for NDA exam is 900 marks. The written exam is basically divided into two parts i.e. Paper I & Paper II. Paper I is consisting of 300 marks & paper II is of 600 marks. The total marks for the exam will be 900 marks.

After the exam SSB interview is weighted for 900 marks.

Some important points for the NDA written exam are

- There are twp exams i.e. of Mathematics & General Ability Test.
- In the mathematics paper , 120 questions will be asked which is weighted as 300 marks.
- All the question will be of MCQ nature which is from the syllabus Of Class 10th, 11th And 12th.
- In Paper II i.e. General Ability Test consists of two parts i.e. English & General Knowledge. Total 150 questions will be asked in Paper II.
- The SSB interview is of 900 marks.

#### NDA Mathematics Syllabus 2017

Paper I (Mathematics) : The total number of question asked in the Paper I are 120. These questions are based on the syllabus of Class 10th, 11th & 12th. The maximum marks for paper I is 300 marks.

Algebra | Concept of a set, operations on sets, Venn diagrams. De Morgan laws. Cartesian product, relation, equivalence relation. Representation of real numbers on a line. Complex numbers – basic properties, modulus, argument, cube roots of unity. Binary system of numbers. Conversion of a number in decimal system to binary system and vice-versa. Arithmetic, Geometric and Harmonic progressions. Quadratic equations with real coefficients. Solution of linear equations of two variables by graphs. Permutation and Combination. Binomial theorem and its application. Logarithms and their applications. |

Matrices and Determinants | Types of matrices, operations on matrices Determinant of a matrix, basic properties of determinant. Ad joint and inverse of a square matrix, Applications – Solution of a system of linear equations in two or three unknowns by Cramer’s rule and by Matrix Method. |

Trigonometry | Angles and their measures in degrees and in radians. Trigonometrical ratios. Trigonometric identities Sum and difference formulae. Multiple and Sub-multiple angles. Inverse trigonometric functions. Applications – Height and distance, properties of triangles. |

Analytical Geometry of two and three dimensions: | Rectangular Cartesian Coordinate system. Distance formula. Equation of a line in various forms. Angle between two lines. Distance of a point from a line. Equation of a circle in standard and in general form. Standard forms of parabola, ellipse and hyperbola. Eccentricity and axis of a conic. Point in a three dimensional space, distance between two points. Direction Cosines and direction ratios. Equation of a plane and a line in various forms. Angle between two lines and angle between two planes. Equation of a sphere. |

Differential Calculus: | Concept of a real valued function – domain, range and graph of a function. Composite functions, one to one, onto and inverse functions. Notion of limit, Standard limits – examples. Continuity of functions – examples, algebraic operations on continuous functions. Derivative of a function at a point, geometrical and physical interpreatation of a derivative – applications. Derivatives of sum, product and quotient of functions, derivative of a function with respect of another function, derivative of a composite function. Second order derivatives. Increasing and decreasing functions. Application of derivatives in problems of maxima and minima. |

Integral Calculus and Differential equations | Integration as inverse of differentiation, integration by substitution and by parts, standard integrals involving algebraic expressions, trigonometric, exponential and hyperbolic functions. Evaluation of definite integrals – determination of areas of plane regions bounded by curves – applications. Definition of order and degree of a differential equation, formation of a differential equation by examples. General and particular solution of a differential equation, solution of first order and first degree differential equations of various types – examples. Application in problems of growth and decay. |

Vector Algebra | Vectors in two and three dimensions, magnitude and direction of a vector. Unit and null vectors, addition of vectors, scalar multiplication of vector, scalar product or dot product of two-vectors. Vector product and cross product of two vectors. Applications-work done by a force and moment of a force, and in geometrical problems. |

Statistics | Classification of data, Frequency distribution, cumulative frequency distribution – examples Graphical representation – Histogram, Pie Chart, Frequency Polygon – examples. Measures of Central tendency – mean, median and mode. Variance and standard deviation – determination and comparison. Correlation and regression. |

Probability | Random experiment, outcomes and associated sample space, events, mutually exclusive and exhaustive events, impossible and certain events. Union and Intersection of events. Complementary, elementary and composite events. Definition of probability – classical and statistical – examples. Elementary theorems on probability – simple problems. Conditional probability, Bayes’ theorem – simple problems. Random variable as function on a sample space. Binomial distribution, examples of random experiments giving rise to Binominal distribution. |

#### NDA General Ability Syllabus 2017

Paper II :- General Ability Test is divided in two parts i.e. English & General Knowledge. Total 150 questions of 300 marks are asked. Which means one question for one marks.
